Oxfordshire Painter and Decorator of the Year 2018  – Competition Terms & Conditions


  • The Promoter

1.1           The title of the competition is “Oxfordshire Painter and Decorator of the Year 2018”.

1.2        The promoter of this competition is: AkzoNobel of Wexham Road, Slough, Berkshire SL2 5DS (“we, us, our”)


  • The competition
      1. The title of the competition is “Oxfordshire Painter and Decorator of the Year 2018”.
      2. Entrants to the competition are invited to submit their nominations for the competition, with the initial entries judged by a panel of Dulux Decorator Centre experts to select a shortlist of 5 and the final round of the competition judged by the general public. The winning entry will win the title ‘Oxfordshire Painter and Decorator of the Year 2018’, £1,000 Dulux Decorator Centre vouchers and a Dulux Decorating Academy training course of your choice worth up to £250. Second place will win £500 in Dulux Decorator Centre vouchers. Third place will win £250 in Dulux Decorator Centre vouchers.


  • How to enter
    1. The competition will run from 10 AM on 8th November 2018 (the “Opening Date“) to 11:59 PM on 9th December 2018 (the “Closing Date“) inclusive via the competition dedicated website www.oxfordshiredecorator2018.co.uk
    2. Entrants will then be shortlisted and voting will run from 10.00 AM 21st December 2018 to 11.59 PM on 3rd January 2019 via the competition dedicated website www.oxfordshiredecorator2018.co.uk
    3. Winner announced via Jack FM and on the competition dedicated website www.oxfordshiredecorator2018.co.uk at 10AM on 10th January 2019.
    4. All competition entries must be received by us at the website address set out at condition 1 above by no later than 11:59 PM on the Closing Date. All competition entries received after the Closing Date are automatically disqualified.
    5. To enter the competition, simply complete the entry form on the dedicated competition website, nominations must include;

  • Why this nominee deserves to win
  • A before and after image of the nominees work
      1. No purchase is necessary to enter the competition.
      2. We will not accept:
        1. responsibility for competition entries that are lost, mislaid, damaged or delayed in transit, regardless of cause, including, for example, as a result of any postal failure, equipment failure, technical malfunction, systems, satellite, network, server, computer hardware or software failure of any kind.
      3. By submitting a competition entry, you are agreeing to be bound by these terms and conditions.

      6. The first round of competition entries submitted to the dedicated competition website will be judged by a panel of experts from Dulux Decorator Centres. 5 shortlisted nominations will then be judged by the general public, voting will take place from 10.00 AM 21st December 2018 with voting closing at 11.59 PM on 3rd January 2019,
      7. The winner will be announced via the dedicated competition website https://oxfordshiredecorator2018.co.uk/ and by Jack FM on 10th January 2019.


  • Eligibility
      1. The competition is only open to professional painters and decorators resident in Oxfordshire aged 18 years or over, except:
        1. our employees or those of our holding or subsidiary companies;
        2. our employees or agents or suppliers to us or our holding or subsidiary companies, who are professionally connected with the competition or its administration; or
        3. members of the immediate families or households of (a) and (b) above.
      2. In entering the competition, you confirm that the person you are nominating is eligible to do take part in the competition and eligible to claim any prize they may win. We may require entrants to provide proof they are eligible to enter the competition.
      3. We will not accept competition entries that are:
        1. automatically generated by computer;
        2. completed in bulk;
        3. illegible, have been altered, reconstructed, forged or tampered with;
        4. photocopies and not originals; or
        5. incomplete.
      4. There is a limit of one nomination per person.
      5. We reserve all rights to disqualify a nominee if their conduct is contrary to the spirit or intention of the prize competition.


  • The prize
      1. The winning entry will win the title ‘Oxfordshire Painter and Decorator of the Year 2018’, £1,000 Dulux Decorator Centre vouchers and a Dulux Decorating Academy training course. The training course can be worth up to the value of £250, can’t be used in conjunction with any other Dulux Academy offer, redeemed within 12 months of the winner announcement across any Dulux Academy courses or locations. Course will need to be booked via phone with academy team and dates are subject to availability. Second place will win £500 in Dulux Decorator Centre vouchers. Third place will win £250 in Dulux Decorator Centre vouchers.
      2. The winner and all finalists will receive a Dulux Decorator Centre goody bag
      3. There is no cash alternative for the prize, or for any finalist’s prize package.
      4. The prize is not negotiable or transferable.


  • Winner announcement
      1. The winner of the competition will be announced at the event described in clause 3.10 above on 10th January 2019. (Announcement Date).
      2. The judges and public vote are final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.
      3. We will contact finalists personally as soon as practicable after the Closing Date, using the telephone number or email address provided with the competition entry. We will not amend any contact information once the competition entry form has been submitted.
      4. The winner will have 4 days to respond to the announcement to claim their prize.
      5. A list of winners can be viewed on our dedicated website (https://oxfordshiredecorator2018.co.uk/) for a period of 30 days after the Announcement Date.


  • Limitation of liability

7.1        Insofar as is permitted by law, AkzoNobel, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize except where it is caused by our negligence or that of our agents, distributors or employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.


  • Ownership of competition entries and intellectual property rights
    1. All competition entries and any accompanying material submitted to us will become our property on receipt and will not be returned.
    2. By submitting the competition entry and any accompanying material, you agree to:
      1. assign to us all your intellectual property rights, with full title guarantee; and
      2. waive all moral rights,

           in and to your competition entry and otherwise arising in connection with your entry to which you may now or at any time in the future be entitled under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 as amended from time to time and under all similar legislation from time to time in force anywhere in the world.


  • Data protection and publicity
      1. We will only process your personal information as set out in our Privacy Policy. By entering the competition, you hereby confirm that we may use your name, photograph and any other Personal Data (as defined in the General Data Protection Regulation and Data Protection Act 2018) in relation to the administration of and any publicity relating to the Competition.  


  • General

If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these terms and conditions, we may, at our sole discretion, reserve the right to exclude you from participating in the competition.

    1. We reserve the right to hold void, suspend, cancel, or amend the prize competition where it becomes necessary to do so.
    2. These terms and conditions shall be governed by English law, and the parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
